BREAKING: VP Pence Weighs In With an Official Statement on the Electoral Count Challenge

As we all know, Republican lawmakers are leading an effort to object to the Electoral College Count on January 6.

Formally, a dozen House members have officially indicated they will object and according to some reports there are more than 140 members involved. On top of those members, about a dozen Senators including Senator Josh Hawley and a group led by Sen. Ted Cruz have indicated they will also object.

The group, led by Sen. Cruz released a statement saying they want a commission formed to look into the allegations of fraud and unconstitutional irregularities. They want the vote held off until the commission does so.

Vice President Mike Pence, as the president of the Senate, is the person who will preside over the count. Now he’s signaling official support for the challenge effort.

Pence’s chief of staff Marc Short released a statement.

“Vice President Pence shares the concerns of millions of Americans about voter fraud and irregularities in the last election,” the statement by Short reads.

“The Vice President welcomes the efforts of members of the House and Senate to use the authority they have under the law to raise objections and bring forward evidence before the Congress and the American people on January 6th.”

Some had thought that Pence might not be on board a challenge after he didn’t seem to be on board with the effort of Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-TX) to sue him to give him the power to decided on the dueling slates of electors in the disputed states.

The movement does seem to be gaining speed, according to Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) who was leading the effort in the House. Brooks said more members are coming on board every day.

“In my judgment, the primary reason so many congressmen and senators are now coming forward to fight this fight is because so many American citizens have made it known that this fight is critical to America’s future.”
